How does BRITA help?BRITA is fully conscious of its corporate responsibility and supports the UNICEF project "Drinking Water for Village Children in Vietnam" to the tune of a six-figure sum per year. By doing this, BRITA has made a long-term commitment. Also, further funds are collected in the form of donations within the Group, at internal events and from suppliers.
Vietnam: contaminated water is a threat to the lives of children
In the poorest regions of Vietnam two out of three people do not have access to clean drinking water. The contaminated water soon leads to dangerous infections and diarrhoea which can prove fatal. Many children are malnourished and therefore particularly susceptible to diseases. In Vietnam, UNICEF supports a nationwide programme to improve the drinking water supply. BRITA is helping UNICEF specifically in central Vietnam, to establish a lasting water supply infrastructure and to cut infant mortality. This includes building wells and rainwater reservoirs, but also education in hygiene. The objective of the UNICEF programme in central Vietnam is to guarantee that some 60,000 children are provided with the vital resource of water.
BRITA helps to provide water
"The initiative is part of BRITA's corporate culture", reports Markus Hankammer, CEO of BRITA GmbH and the BRITA Group. "Because we are the leading global brand on the water filtration market we consider ourselves responsible for drinking water projects throughout the world. We want to ensure that people all over the world gain access to this vital resource."
